What is the best way to compost the nappies?
We find the best way to compost the nappy at home is to put these in the compost bin if you have one or a hole in the ground and once fill you can cover up. About 65% of the nappy will degrade over time depending on the conditions. We also rip off the side tabs and front velcro strip as well and put this in the rubbish. We don't recommend you dispose of number twos in the compost because of hygiene reasons.
Do your wipes contain the banned substance iodopropynyl butylcarbamate IPBC?
Our wipes do NOT contain this banned substance IPBC nor have never contained this substance.
How come your sizing is different to other brands?
We currently have 4 sizes of nappies in the Little Genie range compared to other brands where they often have 6 sizes. Because of this reason our sizing maybe slightly different to cater for only 4 sizes. The Crawler nappy is the most different and is smaller than other brands and you may need to use Toddler instead if you find the crawler to small.
Where can I buy your Little Genie nappies?
All our range is sold at Countdown nationally as well as pumpkin patch online and our own online store.
Are your Biodegradable wipes compostable?
Yes our biodegradable wipes are made from viscose/rayon from bamboo and can be composted and will breakdown normally within 6 months.
How much petrochemicals go into the Little Genie nappies?
We use as little petrochemicals as possible in the construction of our nappy as we like to use sustainable materials where possible. The main ingredient in our nappy is the viscose/rayon from bamboo which gives it the cloth like feel. About 10% of our nappy by weight is made from petrochemical materials compared to most other brands which are much higher.
Are you a NZ company or do you just distribute the nappies?
Yes we are a New Zealand based company and the product was completely developed in New Zealand and took about 3 years to get to market. It is a world first as far as we are aware and we value any customer feedback regarding our nappies as we are always looking to improve our products.
Do you use any gels in the nappies?
Yes we use 2 types of gels in our nappies due to performance reasons. One of the gels is derived from wheat starch and is biodegradable and the other is a SAP which is commonly used in many nappy brands. Occasionally you may see gel on your baby when changing them and these appear often as a clear gel like substance. More information on SAP and studies carried out.
